GYROTONIC® for Breast Cancer

GYROTONIC®

We are thrilled to have trainer Cherry Mu teaching the GYROTONIC® Applications for Breast Cancer Course at Kings Cross Studios! The course is designed to help support clients at every stage of their breast cancer journey. This updated course provides new tools and techniques to assist clients in regaining strength, mobility, and confidence through the GYROTONIC® Method.

Honoring the Legacy and Evolving the Approach

The course, originally developed in 2010 by master trainer Leda Franklin, has become a trusted resource for trainers working with breast cancer patients. After Leda’s passing in 2016, her work continued to inspire the GYROTONIC® community. Now, master trainers Miriam Honorio, Fabiana Bernardes and Anne Thomasson have revamped the course with the latest research and new techniques, which we intend to share here at Kings Cross Studios!

Over the past decade, we’ve learned more about how movement, breathwork, and holistic practices can help during treatment and recovery. This course is designed to meet clients where they are, offering adaptable exercises tailored to their needs and treatment plans.

Why GYROTONIC® Works for Breast Cancer Recovery

“The illness and treatment of breast cancer can both cause both temporary and lasting challenges,” says master trainer Fabiana Bernardes. “Juliu Horvath, the creator of GYROTONIC®, aimed for us to feel at home in our own bodies. This method helps clients rebuild lost connections and create new ones after their journey through diagnosis and treatment.”

The GYROTONIC® Method is gentle, adaptable and effective, focusing on:

  • Breathwork for relaxation and circulation
  • Mobility exercises to improve movement
  • Strength-building movements tailored for recovery
  • Postural support to improve balance
  • Restoring the mind-body connection through mindful movement

Insight from our Trainer, Cherry Mu

“Breast cancer treatment and recovery can be a lengthy and stressful process which isn’t just a physical but also an emotional challenge. The GYRO method offers an empowering and all-around way to mend the body temple going through the tempest. The circular and flowing motions are so gentle and customisable for each client’s needs, which can start from baby steps to retain and regain energy. Through rhythmic and mindful 3-dimensional movements and the breathing involved, chest and shoulder mobility is restored, the body is realigned, and tightness from surgery or radiotherapy relaxed. The body will experience better lymphatic flow and blood circulation, as well as improved spinal strength and balance. Clients will not only find space and energy flow in their body, but also in their mind-body connection, bringing them calmness and clarity to face the world again. Let’s keep moving, and moving on.”

A Course Rooted in Healing and Hope

The GYROTONIC® Applications for Breast Cancer course is about helping people heal. By incorporating gentle, mindful, and restorative movement, this method helps rebuild strength, confidence and connection to the body.
